The arrivals hall of the Overseas Passenger Terminal was transformed into a massive interactive arcade, perfect for kids of all ages.

Entry to the Mega Kidz Zone was free, and families were entertained with hours of fun on Australia Day. Each child got 45 minutes in the zone to bounce around and dance in the silent disco, but it was first come, first served.

Visitors got lost in the massive Maze, bounced through the enormous inflatable obstacle course, or satisfied their inner kid on one of the arcade games. They danced to the beats of the silent disco, a space for kids of all abilities to experience one big party they’d never forget.

Wheelchair Basketball, a game that could be enjoyed by all, was one of the most popular activations within the Australia Day program over consecutive years. Facilitated by the NSW Wheelchair Sports Association, the activation increased awareness of adaptive sports, people with disabilities, and the Paralympics. The event hosted over 500 participants throughout the day.

The Silent Disco was an inclusive and dignified option for children and adults who identified as neurodiverse, allowing them to experience a fun dance party without the anxiety of loud music. Each headphone (150 were made available) had its own volume control and could block out any external noise distractions that might cause a child to lose focus. This activation was a great way to bring people together, have fun, and enjoy music in ways that hadn’t been possible before.
