Harbourfest lit up Sydney’s sparkling harbour on Australia Day with exhilarating activities on the sea, shore, and sky, delighting friends and families alike.
The excitement built throughout the morning as thousands of Sydneysiders and visitors gathered along the foreshore to take in the stunning views of our beautiful harbour.
The annual Oz Day 10K wheelchair race spun through The Rocks, while the Overseas Passenger Terminal offered plenty of fun and free activities for the young at heart, including a Mega Kidz Zone, a silent disco, street food, and more.
Midday was marked by a stirring 21-gun salute, followed by the breathtaking aerial acrobatics of the Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes as they danced across the sky.
A crowd favourite, the Ferrython, saw our iconic ferry fleet racing at double speed for line honours, while Maritime Mayhem entertained with stunts and tricks.
The Australia Day Regatta, the Tall Ships Race, the Australia Day Harbour Parade, and the Working Harbour Display showcased our rich maritime traditions, all unfolding across the harbour.
Harbourfest offered fun, free activities for all ages, celebrating the Australian spirit and bringing people together to share in the story of our nation.
Spectators secured spots around Circular Quay, Hickson Road Reserve, Dawes Point Reserve, and the Sydney Opera House, as well as from the Cahill Expressway Walkway and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, to view all the action.
For those on the water, the best on-water vantage points and waterway restrictions ensured safe and enjoyable viewing of the day’s events.
The Australia Day Council of NSW worked to ensure all activities and events were accessible and inclusive, allowing everyone to experience the magic of the day. Find out more.
